Self esteem practically is how much you value yourself; the more important yourself is to you, the more self esteem you have. With this, you just have to praise yourself for what characteristics you have, how you look, and a lot of positive things. Some people get problems with this because they tend to focus too much on things that they do not have but those who know what things to look at always end up with healthy levels of self esteem. Learning to look up to yourself and love yourself as you are sure ways to increase self esteem.
What to Do With Bad Traits
No one can help it; nobody is made perfect thus everyone has bad traits. Since that is so, you should learn how to manage. If you focus too much on these of course, your self esteem levels will really go down with that, treat these characteristics of yours as weaknesses and find ways to develop them. Also, if you consider the things that you have, you will tend not to be bothered too much about whatever bad traits are making you feel bad about yourself. This is because the positive traits that you have create a halo effect which puts all the negative traits in a shadow.
If you can help it, you can try to be better in whatever bad traits you have however, be careful not to chase them too much. Instead of that effort, you can use it to develop your other positive traits better.
Engage In Activities That Would Boost Self Esteem
If you want to increase self esteem, nothing will happen unless you do something about it. While it is true that high self esteem levels comes naturally to some people and that everyone is gifted with their own levels of self esteem, you can’t just wait for that increase in self esteem to just come to you. So if you want to increase your self esteem, as much as possible, find some self esteem activities that would boost your self esteem.
Take note that different activities would fit different people. Some would have a boost in self esteem when performing better in sports while others would get self esteem boosts if they learn new things.
Have a Lot Of Friends
When it comes to people that would help you increase self esteem, which could do it better than friends? Friends are always there to cheer you up, to give you encouragement, to let you be aware of your strengths and weaknesses and a lot of other things friends can do for you to increase self esteem. Friends also allow you to give out what you know or what you can do and many other things. With that, it is very evident why having a lot of friends are sure ways to increase your self esteem.
Keeping Yourself Healthy
If you look good and are healthy, you have more reasons to feel better inside. Plus, being healthy is the most natural way to increase self esteem. With this, consider having regular exercises and following a healthy diet as much as you can. Keeping yourself healthy is not only one sure way of raising your self esteem, it also has a whole lot of other benefits that are sure to please you.
Try To Be Important
Although it is not very healthy to keep in mind what other people think about you, when it comes to self esteem, you cannot help it but at least care about what people think about you and as much as possible, you of course want to be important to everyone. However, that would not just come naturally except for your close friends and family. To be important, you will have to do a lot of things to get recognized.
People admire other people who do not just say a lot of things about themselves rather, do things for others to recognize. It may seem ironical that when doing something for other people, you get the benefit of an increase in self esteem but this is one of the best ways to increase self esteem. Self esteem, although it is largely involved with how you think about yourself, it is also what you think that others think of you.
